Meet Mel Reichek
Melanie Reichek is the proud owner of Dogpanion, LLC, a San Diego dog training company devoted to providing a customized and personal experience to pet parents, while transforming dogs of all ages into well-behaved, well-trained family members. Dogpanion has been in operation since 2016, and you can see reviews from some of our favorite clients on Yelp.
Mel’s approach to training is to reinforce desired behaviors and not reinforce for undesired behaviors. Her canine training methods are based on an understanding of what motivates the dog and use of positive reinforcement to achieve the desired outcomes as inspired by Dr. Ian Dunbar and Victoria Stilwell. She operates under a “train-the-trainer” mentality, and aims to empower pet parents with the tools and techniques needed to continue training for the lifetime of the dog.
Mel has expertise in a wide variety of solutions to dog behavior problems such as leash reactivity, separation anxiety, and impulse control. Each dog is unique and responds differently to certain techniques and Mel customizes her training to fit the dog’s learning style.
Mel believes that every good trainer should have a mix of experience and education. She has numerous accreditations, and keeps her knowledge in the field up to date by attending seminars and workshops taught by the industry’s leading dog trainers such as Grisha Stewart, M.A. / CPDT-KA and Claudia Fugazza. Mel holds the following certifications and professional affiliations:
